Being a mother is one of the toughest yet one of the most heart warming phases in a woman’s life. For a family to welcome a brand new member is overwhelming and it cannot be described in words. It can although be captured in a photograph for the people involved to relive the moment from their memory anytime they want to. For a child to grow up and look at his/her mom all glowy and happy and his/her family eagerly waiting for him/her to meet them is one of the heartest things there is. Being a maternity, newborn and kid photographer I get to witness this joy and capture these moments very frequently. 

Every family, every child, every mom is unique in themselves and thus I try to capture their uniqueness with every click, every shot. While some might think that a maternity photo shoot is all about angles,lights, backgrounds and dresses, it is so much more than that. It is about the comfort of the parents-to-be, their identity both individually and as a family, it is about capturing and bringing out the essence and job of motherhood and parenthood. The background, the theme, the dresses and the poses only help depict this unique feeling and help us photographers to capture the joy and make it eternal. 

Here are a few maternity photoshoot themes/ideas to make these moments memorable: 

Floral:

A light bright themed shoot done using flowers as props and background. There are various poses that can be done with a floral background providing a more natural or nature inspired look to the shoot. 

Nature:

Go out! Childbirth is a miracle of nature and nature inspired shoot depicts exactly how thankful and grateful you are for this tiny little life growing inside of you. 

Family portrait:

Welcoming a new member in the family is a gift and a family that is loving and happy to welcome this gift. Just imagine your newborn growing up and seeing the pictures of his/her parents and siblings waiting to meet them. 

Pet friendly:

A pet is family. They are a member of the family and it is adorable to see newborns with the family pet. To gather all the cuteness and capture it in a photoshoot is heartwarming. 

Baby bump pictures:

Embracing your baby bump and making the little life inside you feel your warmth is very important for overall growth. It is the bump that most mothers miss after childbirth so capture it while you have it and immortalise it. 

There are many other ways to go about a maternity photoshoot and capture the mere essence of pregnancy and the baby. As I said earlier every child, every mother, every family is unique and thus every theme based around maternity, child and newborn photography can be tweaked and rewired to match the uniqueness of the family.
